Dead Man's Treasure The Avengers Episode
This episode featured lots of British actors who as vintage as the cars they drove in. Notably, the Dads Army Officer Capt Mainwairing drives the sadistic racing car machine that delivers an electric shock when the car runs off the race track. He gets "Bumped off" excuse the pun, and has a secret red treasure chest hidden somewhere. A Penelope Pitstop type escapade then ensues with lots of tiresome car chasing and devious tricks. Of course it was only a matter of time before Emma Peel gets unwillingly strapped into this gadget and is forced to drive at 150mph with the threat of 15kV across her pretty body. A dizzy blonde gets hold of the speed controls and Emma has to drive BACKWARDS at 150mph. Meanwhile Steed fights off the enemy and Emma's brow becomes tightly furrowed. I actually began to feel very sorry for her. After 5 minutes of this caper, Steed wins and reveals to Miss Peel that he had turned off the electricity 10 minutes ago????? Yet more Sadism ? Are there no bounds to this writers unscrupulousness? Ahhh but without this undercurrent it would not be The Avengers

Avengers Episode £50 000 Breakfast
Some lovely outfits worn by Emma Peel in this episode. The black one with the zipper right to the top of her neck is so typical. Lovely tweedy cape coats too. I am not a fashion designer, so I find it difficult to describe her clothes. She has a cat fight in this episode which was quite hair raising. The handcuffing of Emma and Steed to a vertical pole is very typical. She uses her hairpin to escape that situation (Obvious is'nt it) The whole plot is a complete farce from beginning to end but the 70's regalia is scrumptuous for example the Ambulance, I mean just look it. It starts with a ventriloquist who swallowed a load of Diamonds. There is always a mean man in every episode, usually sporting blonde hair and blue eyes. This episode was no exception.
